More Details About the Medicine

Jardin-D Syrup is an antihistamine medicine containing desloratadine. It is used to relieve symptoms associated with allergies, particularly allergic rhinitis and urticaria (hives).

What is Jardin-D Syrup Used For?

Jardin-D Syrup helps control symptoms caused by allergic reactions. Desloratadine blocks the effects of histamine, a substance released by the body during an allergic response.

It may be used for symptoms such as:

  • Sneezing and runny nose
  • Itchy nose
  • Watery or itchy eyes
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Skin itching
  • Hives or urticaria

It treats the symptoms of an allergy rather than eliminating the underlying cause of the allergy.

How Does Jardin-D Work?

Desloratadine is a second-generation H1 antihistamine. By blocking histamine at H1 receptors, it reduces symptoms such as itching, sneezing, watery eyes and nasal discharge.

Compared with older antihistamines, desloratadine generally has a lower tendency to cause drowsiness. However, individual responses can vary.

Jardin-D Syrup Dosage

The appropriate dose of desloratadine syrup depends on the patient’s age, so children should not simply be given an estimated amount.

Because Jardin-D contains 0.5 mg in each mL, the volume given determines the actual dose of desloratadine received. Use an appropriate medicine measuring device rather than an ordinary household spoon.

For children, especially very young children, use Jardin-D according to the doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.

Possible Side Effects

Desloratadine is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects can include:

  • Headache
  • Dry mouth
  • Tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea or stomach discomfort

Seek medical attention for signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat or difficulty breathing.

Precautions

Tell your doctor before using Jardin-D if the patient has significant kidney or liver problems, is pregnant or breastfeeding, or has previously experienced an allergic reaction to desloratadine or loratadine.

For children, always check the correct age-appropriate dose rather than assuming that all allergy syrups are dosed the same way.

Jardin-D Syrup vs Jardin-D Tablet

Both formulations contain desloratadine, but their strengths and dosage forms differ.

Jardin-D Syrup: 0.5 mg/mL
Jardin-D Tablet: 5 mg

The liquid formulation allows doses to be measured according to age and prescribing instructions, while the 5 mg tablet is a fixed-dose formulation.
