About the Doctor

Prof. Dr. Abid Salahuddin is a highly experienced pediatrician in Peshawar with extensive expertise in newborn care, pediatric emergency medicine, and the management of childhood illnesses. He earned his MBBS degree from Khyber Medical College in 1998 and completed his house job at Hayatabad Medical Complex before pursuing advanced pediatric training. He holds MCPS (Pediatrics) and FCPS (Pediatrics) qualifications and has also completed a Certificate in Health Professions Education (CHPE), reflecting his commitment to both clinical excellence and medical education.

Following his initial clinical experience in Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Abid Salahuddin moved to the United Kingdom, where he underwent comprehensive postgraduate pediatric training. During his eight years of clinical practice in the UK, he worked at several leading hospitals, including University College London Hospitals, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and King’s College Hospital, London. His training covered General Pediatrics, Community Pediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), and Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU), with particular emphasis on neonatal medicine and pediatric emergency care.

After returning to Pakistan in 2010, Prof. Dr. Abid Salahuddin joined Pak International Medical College as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics, where he played an important role in establishing and developing pediatric services. In 2013, he joined Rehman Medical College & Institute, where he continued to provide specialist pediatric care while contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He currently serves as Professor and Consultant Pediatrician at Peshawar General Hospital (PGH).

His clinical practice includes the diagnosis and treatment of newborn illnesses, childhood infections, respiratory diseases, asthma, allergies, nutritional disorders, developmental concerns, gastrointestinal illnesses, and pediatric emergencies. He is particularly recognized for his expertise in neonatal intensive care, pediatric critical care, and the management of seriously ill children requiring advanced medical support.

Prof. Dr. Abid Salahuddin is also an active educator and is recognized as a supervisor for MCPS and FCPS postgraduate training programs. His passion for teaching, combined with decades of clinical experience in Pakistan and the United Kingdom, enables him to provide evidence-based, compassionate, and family-centered care for children of all ages.
